Every once in a while you come home and realize you have the evening to yourself. Usually on nights like this I whip up a gourmet meal, open a bottle of my favorite red wine, light up some candles and watch one of my favorite chick flicks. This is the men’s equivalent to playing FIFA or having a beer and watching football on TV.

I love indulging myself on these “home alone” nights – and every woman should! So when the time comes, and the sky gets dark… light up a few candles, cook yourself a delicious meal and treat yourself good girl! I hope that this post will inspire your next home alone night ladies. Here is a list of my favorite foods, movies and activities.

Avocado prawn cocktail
-This is the easiest recipe I know. No cooking necessary, just mix, slice and serve. Healthy and heavenly!

What you need:

  • Avocado
  • Prawns
  • Fresh dill
  • Sour cream
  • Lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper

Mix up the sour cream, prawns and fresh dill in a small bowl. Add the juice of one lemon half.  Mix and season with salt and pepper. Place the mix in the fridge for 10 minutes. Cut the avocado in half and remove the stone. Slice up the avocado into small cubes and place the cubes into a martini glass or a small bowl. Add a few spoons of the prawn sauce on top of the avocado. Add a few prawns, some fresh dill and a lemon slice for garnish.

Warm halloumi salad with juicy chicken
– This is one of my absolute favorite meals. It is healthy, delicious and super easy to make.

What you need:

  • Courgette
  • Paprika
  • Onion
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Halloumi cheese
  • Chicken breast
  • Salt and pepper

Start by frying chicken breast on a hot pan. You can season the chicken to your own liking. Slice the onion, courgettes, paprika, cherry tomatoes and halloumi cheese into small cubes. Place the onions, courgettes and paprika into a frying pan and warm up. Once the ingredients have softened up a bit add halved cherry tomatoes and halloumi cubes into the pan. Season the vegetables with some salt and pepper. Serve the warm vegetables with juice chicken breast.

My favorite movie snacks: sweet and salty

Dark chocolate -cause your red wine needs a friend!
Dried strawberries -sweets that you don’t need to feel guilty about in the morning!
Homemade popcorn – home made they are much healthier than the buttered ones from the shops!

My home alone chick flick picks:

  • Bridget Jones 1 & 2
  • Brides maids
  • Just go with it
  • The other woman
  • Just friends
  • Crazy stupid love
  • Bad teacher
  • Horrible bosses
  • PS. I love you
  • Holiday
  • Love actually
  • We’re the Millers
  • 50 First Dates

When I want to take indulgence to the next level I go all out! Here are some tips:

  • Have a relaxing bubble bath
  • Try a soothing face mask
  • Treat yourself to a manicure
  • Try a moisturizing hair mask
